It’s not terribly old.
(It replaced the original watch tower in 1886 when the original tower fell into the sea as a result of beach erosion.) Honestly. I don’t see the historical significance, but it sure is pretty.

When the weather is dry they shrivel up and brown. But after a rain they ‘resurrect’ into a lovely pad of green. Often found on live oaks, resurrection ferns are epiphytes or air plants. And some scientists think they can live 100 years. Here is a great article from U of Florida on these lovely plants. They are easy to grow indoors and outdoors.

Beautiful lighthouse and I like the special formed trees the most. A lot of ferns dry out and recover when it rains.
Thanks for the nice pictures. Many greets and have a lovely day.

Thank you. St Augustine is lovely and a wonderful respite from Jacksonville which was surprisingly huge.

We enjoyed St Augustine when we were there several years ago.

We saw the Fort and the historic downtown a couple of years ago. I agree. Very nice city. Great location on the water and I always love cities with lots of history.

I love the live oaks. They’re amazing. I haven’t heard of them before although might have seen them. They’re amazing. I also loved the lighthouse photo.

I love the live oaks too. Even wrote a post about them in Savannah. Here’s the link.
